Electronics and Communication Engineering-3

11. What is an Amplifier?

An electronic device or electrical circuit that is used to boost (amplify) the power, voltage or current of an applied signal.

12. How can you start-up the 40w tube lite with 230v AC/DC without using any choke/Coil?

It's possible by means of Electronic choke.otherwise it's not possible to ionise the particles in tube. light, with normal voltage.

13. what is the diff. btwn. electronic regulator and ordinary rheostat regulator for fans?

The difference between the electroic and ordinary regulator is that in electronic reg. power losses are lessi.e.for as we decrese the speed the electronic reg. give the power needed for that perticular speed but in case of ordinary rh type reg. the power wastage is same for every speed and no power is saved. In electronic regulator triac is employed for speed cntrl.by varying the firing angle speed is controled but inrheostatic ctrl resistance is decreased by steps to achieve speed control.

14. What is cut-off frequency?

The frequency at which the response is -3dB with respect to the maximum response.

15. What is pass band?

Passband is the range of frequencies or wavelengths that can pass through a filter without being attenuated.
